On behalf of partner Schouten Techniek, and in cooperation with Bouwbedrijf van de Ven, Ursem Modulaire Bouwsystemen started in November 2017 with the production of 189 PREFABRICATED BATHROOMS.

On the former Vicona grounds, Woonfront Rotsoord realises two apartment blocks. Additionally, the ‘Klopgebouw’ will be rebuilt in the traditional style. The building will have a commercial purpose, which will add extra sphere and liveliness to the area.

There are two buildings: one on the corner of Diamantweg and Rotsoord, which will be six storeys high, and one situated perpendicular to the canal the Vaartsche Rijn, which will be four storeys high, with respectively 123 and 83 studios/living units of 30 m² each designed for starters and students.

RICH INDUSTRIAL HERITAGE
The old industrial area Rotsoord is situated along the canal the Vaartsche Rijn. It forms one of the last remaining pieces of industrial landscape on the waterfront. The area is characterised by the water tower, and includes a number of other industrial buildings. Furthermore there are a petting zoo and a numberof small dwellings. Besides living area, there is a huge diversity of other (commercial) activities such as restaurants, schools and small businesses. The train, bus and tram station Utrecht Vaartsche Rijn is nearby.

COMPLETE DELIVERY
The prefabricated bathrooms are produced in series at the Ursem plant and meet all Building Code fire and noise requirements. On the outside of the bathrooms, installation company Schouten Techniek places a technical compartment with all necessary installations for central heating, ventilation, water and electricity. After testing and approval of the bathrooms they are wrapped in waterproof packaging material and prepared for transport to the building site.

The bathrooms will be delivered on the building site just-in-time, and hauled to the proper floor. To guarantee a massive floor quality, after the bathrooms are fitted on location, a sand-cement screed is applied, to be finished with floor tile.
The last delivery of bathrooms took place in June 2018, the first houses were completed in October 2018.
